WHERE DO YOU DWELL?

We live in a world of uncertainty and the constant charge to go, go, go. Yet we crave places that invite us to stay. Places that provide a refuge, that restore calm. To the ancient Danish, dvale conveyed a desire to linger. That is what I wish to create with DWELLYNGE. To design more than a space. To create together a true sense of place. To fill it with treasured objects that feel like you. Because wherever you and your loved ones dwell, THAT IS HOME.

TESTIMONIALS

My home is filled with memories of my friends and family.  Since working with Peggy, this space holds so much more. The warmth and balance, the color and stillness surround me everywhere. Every room has its song and becomes a sanctuary…..

Kathryn M. - Pittsford, NY

We thoroughly enjoyed our time together with Peggy as our home was  beautifully transformed into a peaceful and calming environment. She is a great listener, who passionately re-created the memories of our well-traveled life in ways we could never have imagined.

Jen & Joe  - Rochester, NY

On a whirlwind trip to San Francisco and Sausalito, CA, Peggy coached, advised and helped us make challenging decisions for the upgrade of our home.  We laughed, we wondered and wandered, we moved furniture, hauled rugs and tested paint. We now rest in our perfect dwelling and continue to celebrate that time spent with her. She’s a pro - and a lot of fun!

ABOUT ME

When I first realized I wanted to be an interior designer:

On a family trip to a fishing resort in Boiling Springs, PA. I watched with wonder as my Dad hid the suitcases, rearranged the furniture and adjusted lighting in our tiny space. The room was immediately transformed and so was I.

My perfect item of furniture:

I don’t believe in being too precious. I’ve always loved to go antiquing—or, as I like to call it, junking. Back in the 80s, I found a faded black-and-red chinoiserie cabinet at my favorite spot, The Holistic Junk Shop in Canandaigua, NY. Funny thing: the shop had an actual lion that roamed the hills out back. The cabinet has been a focal point in my living room for years, and so has the memory of that lion.

Most memorable room:

My grandmother’s enclosed porch was her sanctuary. It was a lived-in space with stacks of books leaning against the sides of well-worn wicker chairs and cushions in faded chintz.

Most cherished object:

I love pieces with a story. The ones that make my friends say, “Where did you find that?” At the moment, I’m obsessed with a pair of bronze candlesticks that have an elegant crane standing on top of a sweet little turtle.

What I love about my job:

My career has been a patchwork of colorful experiences. I’ve worked in marketing for a Fortune 500 company, sold furniture for Thayer Coggin, did a stint at an ad agency, worked for a local parish and raised twin daughters who are now almost thirty years old. Interior design has always been part of my life. And now, I get to bring my design eye to your spaces. To curate a highly personal sense of place. To create a dwelling where memories can be made. What’s not to love about that?
